The birth of the first golf course in Benin

Ouidah Golf Club was born from a single ambition: to put Benin on the international golf map. The centrepiece of the future Avlékété seaside resort, ideally located halfway between Cotonou and Ouidah, the club sits harmoniously between the ocean and the lagoon. As the country’s first and only course, it embodies the revival of the Beninese coastline.

More than a club, it stands as a world-class destination for golfers seeking excellence. Driven by the quality of its facilities and the precision of its layout, it is becoming a major reference in West Africa. By combining Beninese hospitality with the highest international standards, it shapes a uniquely new golf experience on the continent.

Biodiversity

A living wildlife

The course is home to remarkable wildlife: tropical birds, majestic reptiles and discreet visitors at dusk. Playing here means sharing the space with Benin’s nature at its most vibrant.

Biodiversity

A lush flora

Between ocean and lagoon, the course sits within a preserved green setting. Royal palms, coconut trees, century-old mango trees and coastal mangroves frame every hole, turning your round into a unique natural immersion.

Committed to preserving this exceptional site, the club favours maintenance methods that respect the Avlékété ecosystem.

Ecology

Responsible water management

Ouidah Golf Club has chosen a pioneering ecological approach for course maintenance. Rather than tapping into precious groundwater, the club draws directly from the lagoon, naturally fed by the ocean.

This feat is made possible by the use of a specific salt-loving grass, able to thrive in intense heat and high salinity. By turning brackish water into a vital resource for the turf, the club fully preserves local freshwater reserves and integrates sustainably into the coastal ecosystem.

Our vision

A project for the future

By welcoming local and international golfers, we want to make Ouidah Golf Club a place of encounter, learning and sharing — rooted in its land and open to the world.
